Operating The E-Z Stamp Air Hammer

SHOP PERSONNEL SHOULD ALWAYS WEAR PROTECTIVE FACE AND BODY GEAR (PPE) DURING ANY STAMPING OPERATIONS.

LUBRICATION: (from CP Operator’s Manual)

USE AN AIRLINE LUBRICATOR with SAE # 10 OIL, ADJUSTED TO TWO DROPS/MINUTE. IF AIRLINE LUBRICATOR CANNOT BE USED, ADD AIR MOTOR OIL TO THE INLET ONCE A DAY. 

AIRLINE REGULATOR REQUIRED TO MAINTAIN PSI IN LOW 50’S RANGE TO INCREASE LIFE OF STAMPS, DIE HOLDER AND RETAINER.

DO NOT ACTIVATE AIR HAMMER TRIGGER WHEN:

  • AIR HAMMER HAS NO STAMP IN THE DIE HOLDER
  • THE STAMP DIE IS NOT PROPERLY SEATED IN DIE HOLDER,
  • STAMP FACE IS NOT FLAT ON THE SURFACE TO BE MARKED.  

 

USE TWO HANDS TO OPERATE:

  • ONE HAND HOLDS STAMP DIE AGAINST MARKING SURFACE
  • ONE HAND TO HOLD AIR HAMMER
  • A LEGIBLE IMPRESSION SHOULD TAKE APPROXIMATELY 5 SECONDS OF CONTINUOUS AIR HAMMER APPLICATION TIME PER STAMP. 

 

HELP PROTECT YOUR DIES AND DIE HOLDER FROM BREAKAGE:

  • USE A REGULATOR ON YOUR COMPRESSOR/HOSE LINE TO MAINTAIN SUGGESTED PSI IN MID 50’S.
  • ACTIVATE AIR HAMMER ONLY WHEN STENCIL FACE IS FIRMLY IN CONTACT WITH THE METAL SURFACE TO BE MARKED.  USE ONE CONTINUOUS CONTACT MOTION TO COMPLETE EACH MARK.    
  • PREVENT RETAINER CROSS THREADING: DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN RETAINER SLEEVE.

 

TRIGGER STICK ISSUES:

 SEA FOAM MOTOR TREATMENT: pour capful in airline inlet. Cycle after 10 minutes.

 CARBURETOR CLEANER:

Spray the air hammer trigger itself, around the trigger externally, with a carburetor cleaner, like Gum Out. Work the straw-like attachment the spray cleaner should come with, in and around the trigger and spray liberally. Let the gun sit for 15 minutes and try to cycle the gun with air. Repeating this a few times may be necessary. 

STAMP DIES NOT SUPPLIED BY EZ STAMP TOOL MAY NOT SEAT PROPERLY IN OUR DIE HOLDERS.

 

Trouble Shooting

Trigger Stick Issues:

IF YOUR AIR HAMMER CONTINUES TO RUN AFTER RELEASING THE TRIGGER:  

Carburetor Cleaners:

Spray the air hammer trigger itself, around the trigger externally, with a carburetor cleaner spray like Gum Out, or Sea Foam liquid. Follow general directions. Repeating this a few times may be necessary.
